The Field Trip Day. 12-14-12.

The Field Trip Day
"Please don't cry,we're okay
we went on a field trip today.
A secret place, where fun's to be had,
the principals with us so we won't be bad.
It's full of toys, and rainbow slides,
cotton candy, and high cloud rides.
A funny zoo full of different things,
I even saw a man with winds.
It's really nice, I think I'll stay
and hold your spot 'til your field trip day."

We are all aware of the tragedy in Newton Connecticut and our prayers certainly reach out to those families and friends who lost loved ones a few days ago.
But it still doesn't make sense why it had to happen. Something so painful and cruel. I know with all of my heart The Lord could have changed the outcome.

Why didn't he?

Yesterday in young womens I was asked to give a scripture.
Immediately my mind went to Alma chapter 14. My thoughts wrapped around two verses but then I convinced myself I was in no place to share the scripture I had in mind..
So I shared a different one.

Afterwards our young women's president, Sister Anderson, stood up and shared the exact scripture I didn't share.

The Lord obviously wanted our hearts to be in peace and full of comfort.
I am making up for how I ignored the spirit's prompting and sharing it with you.

In Alma 14 I thought of the tragedy that Alma and Amulek had to witness as innocent young children and women were persecuted for believing in the prophet's preaching of our Savior Jesus Christ.

And when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children who were consuming in the fire, he also was pained; and he said unto Alma:

How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the power of God which is in us, and save them

from the flames.
But Alma said unto him:
The Spirit constraineth me that I must not stretch forth mine hand; for behold
the Lord receiveth them up unto himself, in glory;...

The Lord's glory is Exaltation.
Living with God.
For Eternity.

My heart and spirit is so at rest to know where those who passed a few days ago are in the arms of our Savior.
I am filled with sorrow when I think of those who do not know this marvelous truth.
The Lord is Gracious and Loving.
He has a plan for all of us and is always in our lives to comfort us in times of heartbreak and trial.

I am a Princess. Long may I reign.

Ever since I can remember I have dreamt, like every other girl in this world, of becoming a
Disney Princess.

My dream was crushed when I passed the height limit of 5'8".

I thought I knew then I would never
 become a princess.

I came across this video and thought I would share it because I am absolutely in love with it!

This video is a statement.
A decree to the world that every young women is a princess.
My dream of becoming a princess was never out of reach.
I have been a princess all along.
And I have proclaimed almost this exact promise every week as I stand and say:

I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, who loves me, and I love him.
I am a princess...
I will stand as a witness of God. At all times, and in all things and In places. As I strive to live the young women values which are:
Faith
Divine nature
I am brave even when I am scared..
Individual worth
Knowledge
I believe loyalty is built on trust..
Choice and accountability
Good works
I try to be kind even when others are not so generous..
Integrity
And virtue.
Standing with others is most important..
I believe as I come to accept
and act upon these values,
I believe compassion makes me strong, kindness is power..
I will strength home and family.
And family is the tightest bond of all..
Make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.

My heart has been filled with so much joy to see the light and hope of Christ
is certainly not lost in the world.

The Lord made His princesses His crowning creation and that is no secret.
Our Heavenly Father has a love so unimaginable for His daughters; He is pleading to each and every single young women that she will to come to know her divine potential and her heir to a princess.

"Be strong and of good courage. You are truly royal spirit daughters of Almighty God.
You are princesses
destined to become queens
Your own wondrous story has already begun. Your “once upon a time” is now."
-Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I have heard I am beautiful.
I know I am strong.
I am a princess.
Long may I reign.
